Rajasthan, India, Street Photography

Travelling through Rajasthan offers a target rich environment for street photography. It is always a very sensitive issue when and how to “click“ people. Especially as Indian culture and Hindi religion urge respect and privacy.

Every photographer must develop a feasible approach to this issue. A trade-off between spontaneous clicks and “paid“ portrait shoots. I found an open “smile” approach and a respectful, even-non verbal signalling of my intent most promising. The young generation is keen to exchange clicks and smartphone selfies – finally good news for my collaborative approach.
